Cool breeze brought you in to me.
I thought it was time for a new beginning.
Cherry trees, tulips, and daffodils
In full bloom. both of us waiting
For summer to shuffle in.

Long summer nights, fiery hot and sticky
Lying out on the dock and watching
The moon shine slivers of light on the cool, dark water
Both of us hoping the weather wouldn’t change too soon.

As your skin turned from honey to chocolate brown
The leaves began their strange metamorphosis
September brought to me new-found energy
And excitement and fits of restlessness,
Stuggling for freedom once again.

Before long, as I began reflecting
On what was meaningful and dear to me,
As winter once again chilled my falling spirits,
I was overcome with fear that I’d lost you forever.
